Blood vessels come in different sizes! They range from large arteries to tiny capillaries, each designed for distinct functions. Arteries transport blood away from the heart and have thick, muscular walls to withstand high pressure, while capillaries are microscopic and allow nutrient and gas exchange between blood and tissues. When arteries are blocked with fat, it can cause blood pressure to rise, leading to potential health issues like hypertension. The heart has to work harder to pump blood through the narrowed passageways, which can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. Keeping your arteries healthy is key to maintaining good blood pressure!
